Celine Daemen (1995) is a director and interdisciplinary artist. Her work operates at the intersection of theatre, opera, video, and installation art, frequently incorporating Virtual Reality (VR). With a visual and poetic approach, she explores philosophical and sometimes absurdist themes such as desire, individuality, fear, and emptiness.

After graduating from the directing program at the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2018, Daemen founded Studio Nergens. From this studio, she creates new forms of total experiences through transdisciplinary collaborations with composers, writers, 3D artists, and programmers.

For her VR opera Eurydice, a Descent into Infinity, Daemen won both the Reflet d’Or and the Silver Yusr in 2022. In 2023, her work Songs for a Passerby was awarded the Venice Immersive Grand Prize for Best Immersive Experience at the Venice Biennale.
