Theater Adhoc creates performances at the intersection of the performing arts, science and societal issues. Led by director and artistic director Jan van den Berg, the company develops productions that make hidden histories, scientific insights and fundamental questions about the human condition accessible to a wide audience.
Theater Adhoc’s work is characterised by a research-driven and interdisciplinary approach. Through long-term collaborations with artists, scientists and research institutions in the Netherlands and abroad, the company creates productions that offer new perspectives on the relationship between people, knowledge and society. Previous projects have drawn inspiration from scientific research and historical figures and have been presented in collaboration with a wide range of cultural and academic partners, including Theater Rotterdam, Noord Nederlands Toneel, Radboud University Nijmegen, Nikhef and AMOLF, as well as international institutions such as CERN (Switzerland).
