In her solo exhibition The Watcher, Ola Hassanain explores how power manifests in the built environment. Inspired by irrigation systems in Sudan, the figure of the watcher takes center stage: someone who watches over water and community. For Hassanain, this figure also serves as a metaphor for those who care for their surroundings while resisting systems of exclusion. Through film and installation, she reflects on watching as a form of care, resistance, and responsibility in times of ecological and social instability.
