In his first solo exhibition A Lua e Eu (The Moon and I) in the Netherlands, Brazilian artist Paulo Nimer Pjota presents a new series of paintings in which memory, myth, and imagination converge. Working on found materials such as metal and jute, he combines fragments from archaeology, street culture, and music into associative compositions that resemble a process of visual sampling — a method he compares to that of a hip-hop producer.

For A Lua e Eu, Pjota drew inspiration from childhood memories of his hometown in the Brazilian countryside. His paintings feature plants, animals, and mysterious figures that seem to float between dream and reality. The title, taken from a Brazilian song, reflects the exhibition’s personal and melancholic atmosphere.
