IFFR is the largest film festival in the Netherlands. During the 12-day event, over 400 artistic and independent film productions from all over the world are shown, accompanied by an extensive context programme with Q&A's, debates and master classes. The focus of the festival is on recent work by talented new makers, but there is also room for retrospectives and themed programmes.

In addition to an extensive film programme, each year IFFR presents a wide range of (art)works that push the boundaries of cinema. This part of the programme called Art Directions includes (film) installations, immersive media, artists’ moving image, exhibitions, music, and performances.
