Parallel Lives, Parallel Aesthetics presents the work of León Ferrari (1920–2013) and Gülsün Karamustafa (1946) together in the Netherlands for the first time. A comprehensive retrospective of Ferrari is shown alongside an overview of Karamustafa’s oeuvre. Although originating from different parts of the world, their cultural and geopolitical backgrounds reveal striking parallels. The exhibition demonstrates how both artists respond to societal change and conflict in their respective countries – and how their work, despite this context, remains both intriguing and resonant for a Western European audience.
