In Cabaret Siberia, Latvia-born Agnes Laura Kumpina weaves theatre and visual illusion into an enchanting, poignant, and at times comic narrative. The text was originally written by Latvian author Lauris Gundars and has been newly adapted by Vera Morina. The performance reveals how the human soul can continually rise above all that the body must endure. The two performers must reinvent who they are — without an audience, without the self-evidence of freedom and democracy, and ultimately almost without words.
