Naomi Velissariou (Bilzen, 1984) is a Greek-Belgian director, writer, actor and performance artist. She studied Theatre and Film Studies at the University of Antwerp and graduated from the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2012. As a "Nieuwe Maker" (New Maker), supported by the Performing Arts Fund NL, her work was produced by Frascati Production House, where she created works such as A Tragedy (simplified) (2013), I see you (2014), Q&A (2016), and Sontag (2017).
In recent years, Velissariou developed the music theatre trilogy Permanent Destruction (2018), consisting of the productions The SK Concert, The HM Concert, and Pain Against Fear. For her work as an actor, director, and creator, Velissariou has received several awards, including the Charlotte Köhler Prize from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds (2017), the VSCD Directors’ Award (2019), a nomination for the Gieskes-Strijbis Performing Arts Prize (2020), and the prestigious Theo d’Or (2021) for Best Actress for her performance in the final part of the trilogy.
